Neighborhood Schoolhouse was created to provide a full-day nurturing and educational experience for children in a home-like childcare setting.

It is our desire to be flexible within a structure so that optimal learning and growing can occur in a relaxed and organic way. We know that the best in early childhood development is an interweaving of home and community, individual talents and needs, health and nutrition and a learning environment that encourages exploration and skill development.

It is our desire to combine experiential and sensory based learning with a variety of excellent traditional and non-traditional teaching to assist children in becoming school and life ready. 

We will use elements of Emilio Reggio, Montessori, traditional public learning, Suzuki Music Method, “The Project Approach”, Love and Logic, Peace Curriculum, brain research and other familiar ideas in the program.

The Neighborhood Schoolhouse evolves toward unique style of learning and living created by the energy of all of us working together to raise healthy, intelligent and interesting people.

Hours:
Monday – Saturday 7am-5:30pm year round

Schedule:
2-5 full-days/week schedule (a “full day” is at least 5 flexible hours and includes lunch)

Location:
1227 16th Street, Port Townsend, WA
Located diagonally across from Grant Street Elementary, Head Start and YMCA

Meals/snacks:
breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks  – fresh fruits & vegetables, mostly organic, always healthy
